Overview
GCAC offers grants to help cover legal expenses related to artistic practice and business operations. Additionally, GCAC has established a legal referral service with attorneys providing eligible grant beneficiaries a fixed rate of $300 per qualifying legal service.
Eligibility
- Franklin County residency for at least 1 year before application
- Commitment to remain resident in central Ohio for 1 year after award date
- Not enrolled as undergraduate degree-seeking student
Who is NOT Eligible
- Influencers or YouTube/TikTok/Instagram content creators
- Culinary artists/chefs
- Models and fashion stylists
- Body artists (makeup, nails, hair, tattoos)
- Music producers/engineers/creative directors/artistic directors
- Sound engineers/recording engineers/podcasters
- Commercial photographers/videographers (weddings, family portraits, corporate shoots)
- Club DJs or event DJs (weddings, clubs, parties)
- Religious/cult leaders creating exclusively for congregation
- Artists creating works exclusively using artificial intelligence (AI)

- Business entity creation (LLC formation, etc.)
- Contract review
- Lease review
- Trademark renewal and general guidelines
Funding Note
GCAC's annual grant budget depends on revenue from Columbus hotel and admission taxes and Franklin County funding. Due to changing economic factors, GCAC is taking a conservative approach to 2026 funding. Grant amounts will be lower than the previous year. If revenues exceed projections, beneficiaries will be notified of additional support available later in the year.
