Get matched →The City of Santa Fe Arts & Culture Department seeks muralists, street artists, fabricators, and visual artists to join the Art in Public Places (AIPP) Public Artist Roster. Selected artists remain on the roster for two years before the next call opens in 2028. The roster is used to streamline the AIPP selection process for upcoming mural and large-scale public art opportunities throughout Santa Fe.
This call is open to local, national, and international artists working in a variety of media. Artists without previous mural experience are welcome to apply if their existing body of work demonstrates strong potential for translation to large scale.
Every listing links to the organizer's official page. Always confirm deadlines, fees, and entry rules there before you apply.
The selection committee looks for: Does the applicant's portfolio demonstrate technical skills and material knowledge to successfully execute a high-quality public project? Does the applicant demonstrate capacity for creating work that prioritizes community benefit, civic participation, or site-specific relevance? Does the applicant communicate and demonstrate a distinct artistic voice or perspective that would be a valuable contribution to society? The City will consider artistic quality, originality, technical experience, ability to work at public scale, relevance to future opportunities, and demonstrated capacity to work professionally and collaboratively.
Selected artists and fabricators will be considered for upcoming City of Santa Fe mural and public art projects. Inclusion in the roster does not guarantee a commission. Projects move through multiple stages: Community Charrette, Concept Development, Schematic Development, Design Development, Engineering + Approvals, Fabrication + Installation, Community Celebration, Documentation, and Scheduled Ongoing Maintenance. Opportunities may vary in scale, duration, location, budget, and method of production. Projects include permanent murals, temporary murals, rotating installations, artist-led experiments, community collaborations, and work integrated into parks, trails, civic facilities, corridors, and other public spaces.
