Overview
The Denison Arts Council announces the second annual Salon des Artistes, a juried art show inspired by the historic Salon de Paris. This year's theme is "Represent Your Culture." Artists are invited to interpret the theme and showcase what their culture means to them. The exhibition will be juried by Jose Vargas, an independent curator and visual artist with extensive experience in the Dallas arts scene.

Eligibility
Open to all artists nationally. All artworks are judged equally for prizes without regard for category.
Media & size
Submissions may include 2-D or wall-mounted work (wired and ready to hang, maximum 35 pounds), 3-D work (maximum 50 pounds, displayed on pedestals), photography (wired and ready to hang, maximum 35 pounds), jewelry (with secure mounts provided), and mixed media (2-D maximum 35 pounds, 3-D maximum 50 pounds). Exceptionally large or heavy pieces will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Application & fees
- $40 application fee for up to 5 individual image shots (no detail shots required)
- Submit 1-5 digital images per application

- Best in Show: $600
- Second Place: $400
- Third Place: $250
- Honorable Mention: $100
- People's Choice: $100 (announced at end of show and awarded during artwork pick-up)
- Total awards: $1,500
Exhibition details
The show opens to the public September 12 and runs through November 7 at the Denison Arts Council gallery in downtown Denison, TX. Gallery hours are 10:00 AM–5:00 PM Wednesday–Saturday and 12:00 PM–5:00 PM Sunday. The event is free and open to the public.
Sales commission & contact
