The Federal Republic of Germany is announcing an open, two-phase art-in-architecture competition for professionally active visual artists and artist groups for the new Central Institute of the Medical Service of the Bundeswehr (ZInstSanBw Kiel) in Kronshagen near Kiel. Up to 250,000.00 Euro including VAT are available for the realization of the art, covering fees, overhead, material, and production costs, including all incidental expenses. This competition specifically concerns the foyer location (indoor area).

Theme

The goal of the art competition is to develop an independent artistic contribution for the new building of the Central Institute of the Medical Service of the Bundeswehr, based on individual artistic creation and specifically conceived for this task and location. It should create an identity-forming connection to the institute and convince through artistic quality and expressiveness.

Competition Process

The competition is open and two-phase. In the first phase, participants are asked to develop fundamental artistic approaches in the form of an idea sketch with conceptual considerations. The jury will select up to 10 concepts for the second phase, where a detailed elaboration of the design for realization is expected beyond the basic approaches. The jury will remain the same for both phases.

Financial Information

• Realization budget: Up to 250,000.00 Euro including VAT for fees, overhead, material, and production costs.
• Compensation for phase 1 participants: None.
• Compensation for phase 2 participants: Each team (maximum 10 individual applications or working groups) receives 4,000.00 Euro including VAT, provided a timely submission consistent with the competition conditions is made.
