About the Project

The 'Terneuzen uit de Diepte' project will be a multimedia digital map with physical elements spread across the municipality. It is essentially a collaborative community-art project with an ecological approach. Co-creation sessions, workshops, and walks will be organized with residents from diverse backgrounds to support them in formulating personal responses to sub-questions of the research and providing their perspective on various actors. These will result in artistic expressions that can be incorporated into the map. Residents outside these contexts are also invited to respond to such sub-questions by submitting their own artistic and literary contributions.

Call for Artists

The open call 'Terneuzen uit de Diepte' seeks three to four physical and/or digital artworks created by professional artists, designers, or artist/designer collectives. The works should have an ecological starting point and powerfully convey relationships and networks within the municipality of Terneuzen. These works should translate what the feeling of home means in this area (for people and others), relate ecologically to multiple actors in the local biosphere, and/or contribute to deepening knowledge of climate change, energy sources, and/or ecological history.

Conditions for Participation

• You have knowledge of or affinity with (aspects of or actors in) the municipality of Terneuzen.
• Your artwork tells a story that relates to the municipality of Terneuzen or touches upon one of the described themes.
• You create the artwork specifically for this project; it has not been previously exhibited.
• You give permission for the artwork to remain accessible to the public at least simultaneously with the deep map.

Artist Compensation

Artists will receive fair compensation, in accordance with the principles of the Fair Practice Code used in the cultural sector.

Budget and Promotion

The budget per artwork (including materials) is a maximum of 5000 euro. 'Terneuzen uit de Diepte' will be promoted through an extensive social media campaign; as an artist, you will be asked to be included in the publicity.
