Applications are open internationally to emerging and established artists, including artists based in Washington State. There is no application or submission fee. Programme fees apply, with partial scholarships available to eligible applicants.
About the Residency
Based in a century-old house in Santa María la Ribera, Casa Hechale is a cultural centre bringing together artistic residencies, training, research, and public programmes. The centre supports artistic development and exchange between Mexico, the United States, and the wider international community.
The residency offers a setting for sustained creative work alongside opportunities to engage with Mexico City’s artistic community. Artists may use their stay to develop a play or screenplay, explore a performance language, undertake movement research, investigate a design approach, or advance an interdisciplinary project.
Projects are welcome at different stages, from an initial enquiry to the further development of existing work. Independent working time is complemented by individual artistic meetings, with each artist’s proposed focus informing discussions about working needs and available support.
