Get matched →Not Normal; Challenging Societal Norms is a juried CSI group exhibition exploring artwork that challenges established norms, represents unexpected changes, or deviates from accepted collective reality. Juried and curated by Victoria Fuller and Spencer Gale.
Forum 301 Gallery, 301 W Ohio St., Chicago, IL 60654
'Not normal' encompasses a broad range of subject matter: fantastical or distorted realities (Dada, Surrealism), atypical occurrences (unusual clothing or unexpected events), political anomalies, technological disruptions, climate phenomena (red rain, boiling lakes), biological abnormalities, psychological conditions (synesthesia, schizophrenia), and historical shifts in societal norms. The exhibition recognizes that what is considered normal varies across societies and changes over time.
