Overview

Art Omi: Architecture invites 10 early- to mid-career architects from around the world to develop their work during a two-and-a-half week residency on Art Omi's campus in the scenic Hudson Valley. Residents work independently on self-directed projects and present completed work during the Open Studios event.

Eligibility

Applicants must be professional architects with an M.Arch degree or architectural license and a minimum of 5 years of accredited professional experience since obtaining the degree or license. Architects must be active in architectural design practice or university teaching with an architectural design focus. Applications from students currently enrolled in B.Arch, M.Arch, or PhD programs are not accepted.

AC/E Fellowship

Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and Art Omi are collaborating on a call for a Spanish architect. Applicants must have Spanish nationality or reside and work regularly in Spain, have at least 5 years of professional experience after obtaining an M.Arch degree or professional registration/license, and be active in architectural design in professional practice or university teaching.

Project Requirements

Applicants must propose a project to work on independently during the residency. Projects may be conceptual or practical, ongoing or new, and must result in a visual presentation and final work product such as drawings, maquettes, collages, or digital images. Projects may not be client-based or directed. Written manuscripts and essays may not be worked on or initiated during the residency.

Application & Fee

Application fee is $15. All completed applications adhering to submission requirements will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of professionals including practicing architects, academics, and architecture curators.

Accommodations & Facilities

Architecture residents receive individual accommodations and dedicated desk space. The campus is situated on 300 acres including 120 acres of Sculpture & Architecture Park. Facilities include residence buildings, a historic Federal Period estate house (Ledig House) serving as a gathering center with kitchen, library, and laundry; a swimming pool, bicycles, WiFi, and computers. Chef-prepared lunch and dinner are served daily, with a fully stocked kitchen for breakfasts and snacks. The location is 2.5 hours north of New York City in the Hudson Valley, with train connections to Hudson, NY (30 minutes away).

Art Omi is located in Ghent (Omi), New York, in the Hudson Valley. The area offers cultural and historical attractions including bird sanctuaries, summer performance festivals, presidential mansions, and farmer's markets. Nearby destinations include Columbia County and the Berkshire Mountains.
