Get matched →Dorland Mountain Arts is a beautiful retreat where artists, writers, musicians, and composers can create in a secluded and protected natural setting near Temecula Valley Wine Country, about 100 miles south of Los Angeles and 60 miles north of San Diego. Individual cottages include WiFi, window AC, good cell phone reception, kitchen, bathroom, workspace, and a covered porch with mountain and valley views.
Residencies may be as short as one week or as long as 8 weeks, based on requests and availability. About 5 artists are in residence at a time. Spouses/partners are allowed for the full stay (non-collaborators). Residents are granted leave during their residency and may bring pets (note: pets are not allowed).
Individual cottages with private kitchen and private studio. Two cottages include a Steinway baby grand piano and a Kimball baby grand. The Community Arts Center provides a library, large writing desk with typewriter, meeting room, and studio room for visual artists. The Jane Culp Studio features work tables, a Charles printing press (perfect for 12x24" linocuts, monotypes, collographs), cyanotype supplies, and printmaking workspaces. Additional facilities include fiber arts workspace, painting workspace (oil) with easels, washer and dryer, and extensive grounds with reflecting pond, small lake with rowboat, and hiking trails. Accessible housing is partially accessible (50% or more).
