The Public Creation Residencies Program brings artists into Whim W'Him's Temple Studio for 1- and 2-week residencies of focused, free studio time. The program removes usual barriers of competitive residency applications—awards are made by lottery rather than panel review, meaning there is no artistic ranking, no need to prove merit through the application, and no time spent perfecting a proposal beyond a simple statement of intended use.

  • Must be a dance/performance/music artist, 18 years of age or older
  • Proposed use must involve movement-based research, dance-making, choreographic development, physical exploration, or another practice requiring a dance-specific studio
  • Studio may not be used for profit-generating classes, commercial activities, or uses unrelated to movement practice
  • Dance
  • Choreography
  • Performance Art
  • Movement Research
  • Application Deadline: August 30, 2026
  • Residencies Awarded: September 1, 2026
