Get matched →The Marca Corona Award, now in its 5th edition, is dedicated to supporting emerging visual art and young talents by inviting artists and designers under 35 to create a ceramic artwork. The award is presented by Ceramiche Marca Corona, the oldest company in the Sassuolo ceramic district.
The theme for this 5th edition is 'Segni Comuni' (Common Signs). Participants are invited to design a ceramic artwork that interprets the value of human relationships and collaborative processes, in dialogue with the work of Marinella Senatore. The focus is on gestures and practices that build shared knowledge and identities, including the transmission of skills between generations, collective work, care practices, and daily rituals. Ceramics should serve as a living space that embraces and visualizes exchanges between people, with particular attention to 'segno' (mark/sign) as a trace of gesture, and 'parola' (word) in its graphic, textual, and/or poetic dimensions.
Participation is free and open to artists and designers aged between 18 and 35.
The winner will receive a cash prize of 1,500 euros and an artistic residency at the company to create their work. The winning project will become part of Ceramiche Marca Corona’s artistic collections, housed in the Sassuolo headquarters and the Galleria Marca Corona.
Each participant may submit only one application, consisting of a single two-dimensional digital graphic design. The design should have a maximum size of 100x250 centimeters and be intended for the subsequent creation of a ceramic artifact.
The submissions will be evaluated by: Marinella Senatore, Mariacristina Ferraioli, Alberto Fiore, Alessia Maiuri, Matteo Ragni, Marina Parente, Giuseppe Iannaccone, Franco Broccardi, Sara Zambon, and Luca Fiandri.
