Overview
HOME: States of Belonging is a juried exhibition of contemporary photo-based work at the Arvada Center Galleries, in partnership with Colorado Photographic Arts Center and Month of Photography. The exhibition brings together artists whose work explores the idea of home as something personal and constantly changing, shaped by identity, memory, movement, family, work, and community.

Media & Size
Work must utilize lens-based media as the primary technique, including photography, video, collage, installation, archives, and alternative image-making processes. Mixed media elements are acceptable if video/photo materials are predominantly used. No minimum or maximum size limitations; installations must fit within the 9-foot ceiling height. Final exhibition sizes must be specified, including framing.
Submission Requirements

- Images must represent the work exactly
- Crop images to exclude framing and background
- Work must be original, not reproductions of other media
- Installations welcome if they fit within 9-foot ceiling height
Eligibility
Open to all artists. Work must be your original creation utilizing lens-based media as the primary technique. Open to all forms of photographic image-making in any process or technology, current or historical.
Fees & Scholarships
- Entry fee: $35 for up to 3 pieces (non-refundable)
- Limited entrance fee scholarships available for artists experiencing economic hardship, BIPOC artists, and LGBTQIA+ artists

Sales & Compensation
If artwork sells during the exhibition, artists receive 60% of sale proceeds. Arvada Center retains 20% and Colorado Photographic Arts Center retains 20%. Artwork does not need to be for sale to be selected. Payment is made after the close of the exhibition.
Delivery & Returns
Arvada Center provides insurance for artworks on premises but is not responsible for damage or loss during transport. Shipped work must arrive by December 18, 2026 in sturdy, reusable crates or cartons with a pre-paid return shipping label. Hand-delivery is available December 21–22, 9:30am–4:30pm. Work will be returned in the container and materials in which it arrived.
Agreement
Submission constitutes agreement to the prospectus conditions. Selected artwork must remain on view for the entire exhibition duration. Arvada Center reserves all final curatorial, educational, and installation decisions and may use images for marketing and catalog purposes with artist credit.
