Overview
L'Échelle is a creative workspace dedicated to visual creation in public space, located in the Aygalades neighborhood of Marseille. The collective comprises six visual artists, muralists, and scenographers working across three disciplines: visual arts, urban scenography, and publishing. The residency is a laboratory for experimentation and a venue for exhibiting recognized and emerging artists' work.
Residency Details
The 4-week contextual research-creation residency provides selected artists with individual workspace within the collective workshop, accommodation, and funding to develop and produce a project. The residency includes dedicated exchange and mentoring time with collective members around the three core disciplines. At the end of the residency, a public presentation of the project will be organized as part of the 'Jeudi de L'Échelle' lecture series, which invites professionals working on issues relevant to L'Échelle's mission.
Eligibility
Open to visual artists of all disciplines and ages who can demonstrate current or emerging professional practice.
Application Requirements
- Short statement of intent (1 page) explaining motivations for the residency and describing the project you wish to undertake, including how you wish to work and the type of production envisioned
- Portfolio or artistic dossier (10 pages maximum) including presentation of artistic approach and recent works representative of your practice
