live.make.share is a small-scale, independent ceramic residency program in Vietnam that facilitates exchange between artists, art professionals, and organizations. The program aims to promote Vietnamese ceramic craft-culture while nourishing the local creative ecology with exterior knowledge and new global perspectives.

  • Support: Provide production and development opportunities to the art community
  • Open Dialogue: Encourage dialogue on individual, group, and public levels to highlight positive change through cultural exchange
  • Inclusion: Create space for and celebrate cultural differences, including perspectives spanning geographies and generations
  • Minimum stay for international artists: 6 weeks
  • Maximum stay: 3 months
  • Periods outside these timeframes will be considered but are not priority
  • Private room, shared kitchen with equipment, internet, bathroom, shared studio space with tools
  • Production assistance, administrative support, limited production budget
  • Transportation to/from airport, bicycle for local transport
  • Multiple social gatherings and at least one public presentation opportunity
  • Minimal cleaning and gardening services
  • NOT included: travel costs, insurance, visa fees, or meals (except social gatherings)
  • Technical and conceptual assistance provided by live.make.share and Hiên Vân staff
  • Support from artist assistants, studio manager, and management staff
  • Additional assistance available upon request
  • Self-funded artists: $600 USD per month
  • Artists arriving with a grant: $750 USD per month
  • Payment: 50% upon signature of agreement; remainder upon arrival
  • Fees support basic structural costs and artist services; the program operates independently with no profit margin

While exhibitions of finished work are not required, artists are encouraged to participate in public presentations, typically open studio exhibitions, artist talks, or workshops. Live.make.share promotes participating artists through its website and social media channels.

The program is developed in partnership with Hiên Vân Ceramics, a family-operated studio representing local, technical, and cultural knowledge in Vietnamese ceramic traditions and conservation.
