The Arvada Arts and Culture Commission seeks an artist or artist team to design, fabricate, and install a permanent outdoor sculpture celebrating water, movement, and community. The site-specific work should function as a recognizable landmark for the Aquatics Center and surrounding neighborhood and be engaging from all viewpoints.

The sculpture must be 6–9 feet tall, fit within a 6-by-6-foot pad, and use durable, low-maintenance materials suitable for Colorado weather. It must be family-friendly, discourage climbing, and avoid safety hazards.

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must maintain a current Colorado residence or studio address
  • Must have demonstrated experience creating and installing large-scale, durable outdoor sculpture
  • Application deadline: October 4, 2026, 11:59 PM MDT
  • Anticipated installation completion: October 2027
  • $74,500 project budget for the selected commission
  • $250 honorarium for finalists not selected for the commission

Apply through the CaFÉ online application system. Submit a letter of interest, artist résumé(s), portfolio with relevant work examples and descriptions, preliminary concept statement, and three to five examples of relevant completed projects.
