For an exhibition on the cultural history of synthetic fibers in central Germany at Willi-Sitte-Galerie, master's students in applied media and cultural studies at Hochschule Merseburg seek artistic submissions. The call explicitly welcomes artists, photographers, designers, filmmakers, authors, scientists, and researchers engaging with the social, political, and emotional dimensions of synthetic fiber and textile production.

The exhibition shifts narratives away from male-centered industrial progress stories to center women's work experiences, migrant perspectives, and marginalized voices. It focuses on women's lives and labor in textile and synthetic fiber production and traces these histories to the present. Submissions may address women's factory work, contract workers, equality in East Germany, transition experiences, embodiment and materiality, environmental damage from chemical fiber production, continuities of exploitation today, or synthetic fibers as everyday materials, memory carriers, or political materials.

  • Project concept or idea (max. 3,000 characters)
  • Portfolio: 3–5 works on max. 12 pages
  • Finished works and/or drafts
  • CV: brief self-description (max. 2,000 characters)
  • Submission deadline: 09.08.2026
  • Exhibition dates: 15.12.2026 – 15.02.2027
