About
Overview
Excess Contemporary Studios is an artist coalition based in Manhattan seeking original artwork for their first annual open call. The organization connects artists directly with collectors while prioritizing collaboration, transparency, and artist-led initiative, operating outside the traditional gallery model.
Theme
Submissions should deal with your interpretation of the challenges of contemporary life and consumer culture. The curation leans towards maximalist work and realism over minimalism and abstraction.
Eligibility
Work must have been created in the last 5 years. Accepted work must be for sale.
Media & submission
Original artwork in drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and printmaking.
Pricing & sales
Work is recommended to be priced under $1,000. Artists retain 97% of their sale prices; 3% goes to unavoidable credit card fees. Artists are responsible for shipping sold work to the collector and should set prices to include US shipping.
