2027 Burwood Art Prize Call for Submissions

Overview

The 2027 Burwood Art Prize is now open for submissions, inviting Sydney-based artists to respond to this year’s theme "I Am Here".

Key Dates

• Closing Date: Sunday 7 February, 2027

Eligibility

• Open to Sydney-based (including Greater Sydney) artists aged 16 years and over.
• Artists must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
• Artists may only submit one artwork.

Theme: I Am Here

This theme celebrates cultural narratives and perspectives, inviting artists to consider ideas of presence, identity, and place in their work. It acknowledges the role of cultural identity, lived experience, and community in contemporary multicultural Australia, and will guide the selection and presentation of works.

Awards

• $20,000 acquisitive Burwood Art Prize (open to all eligible artists)
• $2,500 Burwood Local Prize (Burwood LGA residents only)
• $2,500 Burwood Youth Prize (open to all Sydney artists aged 16-20 only)
