Space & Equipment Springboard for the Arts offers low-cost equipment and space rentals in Minnesota to help artists thrive in their career. Artists can use a Resource Lab in Fergus Falls or Saint Paul, borrow technical equipment from the Equipment Library, or rent our spaces for events. About the Resource Labs The Resource Labs in Saint Paul and Fergus Falls are available to artists for self-directed work on professional development projects using scanners, specialty software and photography equipment. Also available in Saint Paul and Fergus Falls, the Equipment Library program offers loans of technical equipment like cameras, lighting, projectors, and sound gear to artists. This rental program is no-to low-cost, and supports artists making a living and a life by providing equitable access to critical creative and documentation technology. Additionally, Saint Paul’s Community Hall is available for rent by artists and organizations for their events and gatherings – all ways Springboard uses its physical infrastructure to support the essential work of artists and vibrant communities. Projects we can assist with include scanning 2D artworks, digitizing slides, negatives and older digital formats (3.5″ floppy disks, CD-ROMs), photo documentation for 2D and 3D artworks, product photography for artworks such as jewelry and ceramics, and image sizing and editing. Artists may check out equipment such as cameras, tripods and lights from the Equipment Library for use in the Resource Lab. The following equipment is available: Two iMac 27-inch workstations Adobe Creative Cloud Epson Expression 11000XL (graphics arts scanner (large-format scanning up to 12.2″ x 17.2″) Epson Perfection V700 Photo scanner (including adapters for scanning 35mm slides, negatives, or medium-format film) Tabletop photo studio light box, 20” x 20” 9′ black and white seamless background photo backdrop LED softbox lights for artwork documentation Artists are welcome to use the Resource Lab for short-term projects, such as those described above in an informal, self-directed environment. Artists may also be eligible for free one-on-one tutorials on a number of projects, ranging from photographing artwork to learning audio and visual editing software. We are currently not equipped to offer ongoing assistance or facilities for longer-term projects, such as film editing, exhibition creation or commercial work. If you have any questions about your project needs, please check in with us. Reserve a Workstation Request a Tutorial About Space Rental PLEASE NOTE: The Community Hall will be under construction starting on April 20, 2026 through late summer/early fall and is not available for use during this time. We are still able to host smaller gatherings in the Resource Lab (Max 20). The parking lot will also be impacted by the construction work at different points during the project. Thank you for your understanding as we make improvements to our spaces! Need a space for your next event? Rent Springboard’s Saint Paul site! Space rental is available year-round and offers a variety of flexible options to suit your needs. Alongside events hosted by Springboard, our site has been home to events of all kinds, including artist-led performances, festivals, pop-up markets, poetry readings, conferences, private events, and more. The following spaces are available: The Community Hall: 2,535 square foot open room with restroom access and adaptable stage. This space is equipped with chairs, folding tables, and a customizable stage. Ideal for 40-100 guests. The Front Yard: is an outdoor green space area that includes the patio in front of the building, parking lot, and walking path. Perfect for medium to large events. The Resource Lab is 1200 square foot space on the second floor that can be used for workshops and small meetings up to 20 people. The Rooftop: is a 435 square foot rooftop area with a city view, restroom access, and can be rented for small gatherings, meetings, parties, and creative activities. Ideal for small groups up to 30.
