Overview

A Studio in the Woods provides daytime rentals for staff retreats, workshops, and small conferences. The unique and historic space is nestled in a serene natural environment on the Mississippi River, offering 7.66 acres of woods and a fully furnished house. Please note: As of September 2026, the venue is booked until August 15, 2027. Apply by April 30, 2027 for requests after July 1, 2027.

Rental Offerings

• Full day: 9am – 5pm
• Half-day rentals: 9am – 1pm (inquire)
• School groups: Limited K-12 school groups on Monday mornings throughout the year
• Artist studio space: Daily or weekly studio space for rent may be considered for artists not in residence. Projects must align with the mission, and proof of project along with professional references are required.

Eligibility

All groups and organizations are encouraged to apply; Tulane affiliation is not required. Resident alumni have the opportunity to request space for workshops or convenings at no cost, with preference given to those who have not yet had the opportunity.

Key Dates

• July 31: For requests between September – December
• November 30: For requests between January – May
• April 30: For requests between June – August (Next deadline 2027-04-30)

Rental Spaces

• Main House (1,200 sq ft): Includes two bedrooms/bathrooms, a fully furnished kitchen and living room with meeting tables, sofa, and a screened-in porch (480 sq ft) with another long pecan table. Accommodates 20-25 people comfortably for a seated event. Outdoor space includes a meadow with picnic table seating or a grapevine overhang and fire pit space with a porch swing. A projector and screen are available. The Founders Studio Workshop may be requested for an additional fee.
• Founders Studio Workshop (600 sq ft): Spacious, window-lined workshop that seats 15 – 20 with two large stool-height tables that can be made into three. Suitable for hands-on projects, meetings, or presentations. A bathroom is located upstairs.
