Our intensive program, "From Forest to Woodshop: The Craft of Cabinetmaking," is hands-on, skill-focused, and takes an integrated approach from the forest to the woodshop. Students will gain skills in foundational stationary woodshop machines, lumber and sheet goods sourcing, cabinet design, and the impact of global markets and new technologies. Utilizing HatchSpace's digital fabrication studio, students will learn basics of technical drawings, an introductory course to SketchUp (CAD software), and hands-on experience with CNC machines. Students will develop skills to design and build custom kitchens, vanities, closets, and other built-ins. They will leave with skills needed for entry-level cabinet shop positions, further training, apprenticeship programs, or launching a small business. Students will also gain an awareness of the interconnected world of forestry products. The program provides a HatchSpace Certificate of Completion and OSHA 10 Safety Certification. This program is a companion to other intensives, including "From Forest to Woodshop: Foundations of Furniture & Wood Products" offered in the fall.
The program is designed for individuals interested in custom cabinetmaking or related woodworking careers.
Delivered in downtown Brattleboro, Vermont.
