Get matched →Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest’s Artist in Residence Programme annually awards artists the opportunity to live and create site-specific work inspired by their total immersion experience in the natural environment. Artists are asked to engage the public with their work and process, which may include demonstrations, workshops, lectures, and participation in one of Bernheim’s programs or annual events.
The residency is open to visual and mixed-media artists, including those working with sound and performance art that incorporates visual elements.
Bernheim recommends a stay of 6–8 weeks, but the residency can be split into two periods, with a minimum of three weeks per period. While full immersion is preferred, flexibility is available. Artists will create a site-inspired artwork, temporary installation, or project as a donation to the Bernheim Foundation.
