Positions Available

Cedar Ridge Creative Centre is recruiting two part-time positions: a Pottery Instructor to instruct advanced level pottery programs for adults, and a Pottery Technician to provide overall operation and maintenance of the pottery studio.

Pottery Instructor

• Hourly Rate: $31.16

Pottery Instructor Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, implements, instructs and evaluates program sessions for advanced level arts programs for adults in pottery. Provides in-studio demonstrations on various aspects and techniques appropriate to the skill level of the class. Provides professional level individual critiques and leads class discussions to advance independent study and progress in the medium. Demonstrates and teaches students regarding tool use, equipment and technical aspects related to pottery.

Pottery Instructor Qualifications

• Considerable teaching experience in a related field or art discipline at the adult level
• Extensive technical knowledge and experience related to pottery including studio experience
• Degree or Diploma in the specified medium OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of Health & Safety practices in relation to working in studio arts and ceramics
• Portfolio required

Pottery Technician

• Job Type: Part-time
• Hourly Rate: $26.68
• Number of Positions: 1
• Start Date: Fall 2026

Pottery Technician Responsibilities

Oversees the technical operation and maintenance of a pottery/arts studio. Schedules firings for bisque and glaze work, loads and unloads kilns. Programs computerized kiln firing systems. Maintains and repairs kiln furniture (including kiln washing and chipping shelves), equipment, elements, switches and other components. Maintains and performs routine repairs to pottery wheels and related components. Prepares all glazes, stains, coloured slips and clay.

Pottery Technician Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Pottery OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Extensive technical knowledge of glaze chemistry and kiln firing
• Extensive technical knowledge and experience related to Pottery including considerable studio experience
• Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety practices in relation to working in a pottery studio
• Portfolio required
