Mar 5, 2027, 6–8 PM Opening Reception Mar 5–Apr 9, 2027 Exhibition on View April 9, 2027 Exhibition Closes /Peɪrs/ "Pairs, Pears, Pares"CAU Group Exhibition 2027 This juried group exhibition plays with the ceramic interpretation of /peɪrs/, (heard as "pairs, pears, or pares"). Many ceramic objects appear in pairs. Beyond the familiar salt and pepper shakers and cups and saucers, /peɪrs/ also invites works that explore relationships between individuals or interoperability. /Peɪrs/ opens space for trompe l'oeil renderings of pears, or for the use of the fruit as a motif. /Peɪrs/ heard as "Pares" allows the ceramic artist to lean into the reductive approaches to the craft such as incising and carving. And of course, a single work might employ all the homophones at once. Pairs, Pears, Pares aptly demonstrates the malleability of a spoken word interpreted in clay. Our exhibition will take place in the Underground Gallery in the basement of the Bountiful Davis Art Center. Work can be displayed on walls, shelves, and pedestals.
