About
Overview
AMOCA's Artist in Residence program provides time, space, and support for emerging, mid-career, and established ceramic artists to develop and expand creative work. Launched in 2012, it is one of the few long-term fellowship opportunities for ceramic artists on the West Coast. The residency space is located an hour from the desert, mountains, and beaches of Southern California and forty minutes east of Los Angeles.
2023–2024 Residents
Five ceramic artists were selected for 2023–2024: Natalia Arbelaez (Brewster, NY; April–July 2023), Claudia V. Solórzano (Los Angeles, CA; May–October 2023), Paige O'Toole (Garrison, NY; August 2023–July 2024), Jolie Ngo (Philadelphia, PA; September 2023–April 2024), and Luke Shalan (Sugarloaf, CA).
Program Support
The Artist in Residence program is made possible with support from the Windgate Foundation, Julianne and David Armstrong, and the Laguna Clay and Glaze Company. Enhanced support from the Windgate Foundation continues residencies for artists based in Southern California.
Participation
Artists participate in AMOCA's programs while producing or developing new bodies of work. Shorter residency opportunities are designed for artists commuting from Southern California locales to encourage artistic exchange with visiting artists from other parts of the world.
