Get matched →Apexart is accepting exhibition proposals for its New York space for its 2027-28 season. This Open Call allows artists, curators, and other professionals to turn a curatorial idea into an exhibition. An international community determines the programming through an online jury process. The highest-ranked proposals receive funding and production support to become apexart exhibitions.
Anyone can apply, from anywhere, regardless of experience or training. There are no fees at any level.
Applicants must submit a 500-word proposal describing a focused, idea-driven, and original group exhibition. Proposals are accepted only through an online form posted on apexart’s website during the submission period. The submitted text will become the first part of the exhibition essay; the second will be about the artists.
The budget is $10,000 per exhibition and related programming. Of that amount, $8,000 covers expenses such as curator travel, artwork shipping, honorariums for artists and public program participants, equipment, and installation. Up to $2,000 goes to the curator or organizer as an honorarium for coordinating the project and writing the brochure essay. Apexart also covers insurance, advertising, publicity, documentation (New York exhibitions only), the design, printing, and mailing of the brochure, and the local opening reception.
Selection is carried out by an international jury of more than 600 people in 70 countries, who vote in November. Each juror receives a dedicated login to vote on at least 50 proposals. The system hides the names of submitters and ensures that every proposal receives an equal number of views. Projects are judged by the strength of the exhibition idea and the organizer’s ability to communicate it, not by social connections, past accomplishments, or personality.
Every listing links to the organizer's official page. Always confirm deadlines, fees, and entry rules there before you apply.
Every February, apexart also accepts proposals for exhibitions anywhere in the world except New York. The next period runs from February 1 to March 1, 2027, for its 2027-28 international season, with voting in March. Applicants must choose a location they have visited.
