College Scholarship Program at the Hoyt

Overview

The L. Eugene DeCaprio Undergraduate Art Scholarship Program supports graduating high school seniors in Lawrence County pursuing degrees in the performing or visual arts. Up to four scholarships of $1,000 are awarded annually.

Eligibility

• High school senior in good academic standing, scheduled to graduate in spring of current school year
• Legal resident of Lawrence County, PA
• Plan to attend accredited two-year or four-year postsecondary institution with degree program in performing or visual arts
• Demonstrated interest in visual and/or studio arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, illustration, ceramics, theater, dance, music)

• High school transcript
• Work samples: Visual Arts: 10-12 images representing best of body of work; Music (vocal or instrumental): two contrasting performances; Theatre: two contrasting performances/monologues with applicant clearly featured (recorded acceptable); Dance: recording with applicant featured (live or studio performance acceptable)
• Name of college/program attending (note: applicant can change schools but must remain in degree-granting program in performing or visual arts to receive award)
• Two or three letters of recommendation

Key Dates

• April 1, 2027: Deadline for applications
• May 1, 2027: Scholarships announced
• June 2027: Scholarship payments made directly to school

Important Notes

If the college/university where the award is to be sent is not the one noted on the application, applicant must provide evidence of enrollment in a degree-granting program in performing or visual arts or the award will be forfeited.
