Residency Overview
The Centro de Arte Fundación María José Jove (FMJJ) and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) announce their International Artistic Residencies Program. The selected artists—Andrés Izquierdo with Emanaciones and Rosa Tharrats with Tejer el agua—will undertake a six-week production stay divided between Mexico City and Oaxaca, supported by curator Luz Massot.

Selected Projects
Andrés Izquierdo (Madrid, 1993) develops Emanaciones, surveying flower markets, candle shops, dye shops, repair workshops, and recycling facilities, creating suspended sculptures through assemblage inspired by the vulture as an agent of transformation. Rosa Tharrats (Barcelona, 1983) carries out Tejer el agua, exploring water as memory and community water management systems alongside Zapotec communities and craftswomen, producing wearable textile sculptures and large-scale pieces culminating in a collective public performance.
Program Objectives
The main objective is to promote cultural exchange and contemporary artistic production between Spain and Latin America, facilitating collaborative networks and strengthening Spanish artists' careers. The 2026 edition emphasizes practices connected to the textile field and artistic research from a situated perspective analyzing connections between art, territory, and community.
Residency Support
- Living Allowance: €1,500 (or equivalent in pesos)
- Production Grant: Up to €1,500 for artistic production costs
- Round-trip travel (Spain–Mexico–Spain) and internal transit
- Accommodation and workspace at partner institutions
- Curatorial assistance and mentoring by Luz Massot
- Final public presentation organized
