Medialab Matadero (formerly Medialab Prado) is a citizen laboratory run by Madrid City Council, created in 2000. It was originally housed at the Conde Duque Cultural Centre under the name MedialabMadrid, moved to Plaza de las Letras in 2007 and was renamed Medialab-Prado, and later relocated to Matadero Madrid, the city's former slaughterhouse and cattle market, which now operates as a centre for contemporary art and culture.

The residency selects research and creation projects that explore relationships between art, design, science, technology, and society through interdisciplinary and experimental approaches. It prioritises the production of public knowledge and community engagement rather than finished outputs, operating within a citizen laboratory framework that emphasises open-source tools and collaborative methodology.
