REC.ON Spain is an independent, artist-run ecovillage and coliving residency founded in 2019. The October 2026 cohort invites local and international creators to immerse themselves in a collaborative, environment-focused village. The program is designed to foster interdisciplinary cross-pollination, blending self-directed creative experimentation with communal engagement, shared meals, and continuous ecological dialogue.

Open globally to all national, regional, and international applicants. Welcomes emerging makers, established environmental researchers, and independent creators. Ideal for individuals whose work interfaces with natural materials, rural architectures, or sustainable community frameworks.

The residency welcomes practices across multiple disciplines including visual arts, sculpture, functional upcycling, material crafts, creative writing, and research.

  • Private or shared lodging in ecologically restored historic stone farm buildings
  • Full access to specialized technical workshop equipped for woodworking, metalworking, and upcycling
  • Opportunity to present finished prototypes and artworks in the on-site REC.ON Gallery
  • Complete integration into an international peer network with daily creative inspiration exchanges and shared communal meals

The physical residency is located in the rustic, high-altitude enclave of Bolaimi in Vélez-Rubio, Almería, Spain. The village sits in a quiet settlement of just 10 traditional houses with immediate proximity to the protected landscapes of the Sierra de María-Los Vélez National Park.
