About
Artists and creators from all disciplines are invited to submit applications for a 4-week residency (October 1–31, 2026) at an artist-run ecovillage in Spain to advance self-directed studio work in an ecological, collaborative setting.
About the Residency
Founded in 2019, REC.ON Spain is an independent, artist-run ecovillage and coliving art residency built on transformed century-old stone farm buildings. Operating without rigid thematic restrictions, this open program welcomes residents from all disciplines to utilize the surrounding mountainous landscape, raw regional resources, and shared technical spaces to advance independent studio work while fostering interdisciplinary cross-pollination, shared meals, and ecological dialogue.

Location
The ecovillage is located in the high-altitude enclave of Bolaimi in the Province of Almería, Andalusia, Spain, with immediate proximity to the Sierra de María-Los Vélez National Park—a rich landscape for land art, outdoor photography, and ecological reflection.

Open globally to all national, regional, and international applicants. Welcomes emerging makers, established environmental researchers, and independent creators whose work interfaces with natural materials, rural architectures, or sustainable community frameworks.

Application Fee & Residency Fees
- Application submission: Free
- Standard Residency Fee: €980 per month for general creative projects, writing blocks, or digital nomad stays
- Special Eco & Zero-Waste Rate: €700 per month for selected projects directly focusing on environmental issues, bio-based construction methodologies, or creative upcycling of local waste materials
