Overview
An international hybrid program co-organized by FotoCreativaBA and IDEA R LAB bridging Latin America and Japan. The program combines a 12-month online laboratory with a one-month immersive on-site research residency in Kurashiki, Japan, followed by public presentations and open studios.
Program Phases
- Phase 1: 12-month online laboratory with monthly theoretical and creative triggers connecting contemporary expanded photography with Japanese aesthetics (Wabi-Sabi, Kintsugi, Ma, Provoke movement), individual curatorial mentorship, and group critiques.
- Phase 2: 1-month on-site residency at IDEA R LAB in Kurashiki for site-specific research, material culture exploration, and creative reuse of industrial waste.
- Phase 3: Open studios, process-based activations, and public presentations or group discussions online or at FotoCreativaBA gallery in Buenos Aires.
Eligibility
Open to visual artists, photographers, and researchers from anywhere in the world interested in expanded photography, material processes, and transcultural dialogue. Any stage of career. Program is fully bilingual (Spanish/English).

- Initial enrollment fee: USD 360 upon acceptance

- Covers: 12 months curatorial mentorship, specialized seminars, shared studio facilities, private bedroom accommodation, daily meals (breakfast and dinner)
- Not included: Airfare, personal expenses, art materials
- No artist stipend, travel stipend, or residency scholarships currently available; acceptance letters provided for external funding applications
