Artist Residencies in India with Stipend – Reviewed by Artists

Overview

Six artist residencies in India offer stipends and support for creative practice. Programs provide studio access, housing, mentorship, workshops, and exhibitions for emerging and established artists from diverse countries and backgrounds.

Residencies included

• Shanthiroad (Bangalore): Four-week NEXT-STEP program for emerging artists with studio access, mentorship, workshops, and exhibitions.
• Centre d'Art (Auroville, Tamil Nadu): Two-month annual program with accommodation, meals, e-bike access, and curatorial support; culminates in exhibition.
• Khoj International Artists Association (New Delhi): Annual four-week Peers Residency for recent graduates; 4-6 week international exchanges; specialized residencies on urban density, mental health, and expanded craft.
• Sarai Media Lab (Delhi): Residencies and fellowships for artists, scholars, and practitioners working with video, audio, digital, and installation art.
• Shakti Design Residency (New Delhi/Jaipur): Four-week program for international design talent; includes free flights, accommodation, and $1,500 honorarium for meals and expenses.
• Vice~Versa Foundation (Goa): Four or eight-week fellowships in Indo-Portuguese heritage homes; includes monthly stipend, studio space, library, kitchen, and laundry access.

Disciplines and media

Programs welcome work in architecture, design, photography, textile, painting, installation, digital art, performance, sculpture, new media, video, fiber, and writing.

Eligibility
