This one hour class is perfect for those who have never tried the pottery wheel before, or want to have an adventure with your partner in crime. In this one hour class, both of you will create a one of a kind object on the pottery wheel. Choose between a cup and a bowl. Students will choose a glaze color for their piece and the instructor will glaze and fire your work. Students will be notified once their pieces are ready to be picked up (3-4 weeks after class). Date Nights host 2 couples, so it's a great activity for a double date. No prior experience required! POTTERY STUDIO About the InstructorPatricia's journey with clay began as a young child, making sculptures of her favorite animals, whales and elephants, and as a young teenager sculpting a life size bust of a teen crush. She obtained her BA in studio art: ceramics from Mary Baldwin College (now University) in 2015. She continued her ceramic education at The Visual Art Center studying pottery and other specialized ceramics. She fell in love with teaching at a Richmond recreation center, with classes for both adults and children. Patricia moved to Tennessee in the spring of 2022 and taught at the Appalachian Arts Craft Center during 2023, until she moved to McMinn County last December. Patricia teaches through demonstration and individual coaching. She enjoys helping students progress from any stuck places in their journey with clay. Each person learns differently and Patricia takes that into account when demonstrating and explaining a process. She has collected a wealth of methods to correct and support throwing unique shapes on the wheel, as well as good tips for trimming and fine tuning a pottery form. This information is included in all her pottery classes. Patricia makes sure her students feel empowered and inspired in their class experience. Please review our class policies, here, before completing registration.
