About
Overview
The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) offers annual grants to support working artists. The program helps with the cost of materials, supplies, and resources for creating new work; professional development or learning opportunities; or marketing and promotion expenses. Due to limited funding in 2026, grant amounts will be lower than previous years and resubmission is not available if an application is incomplete or ineligible.
Eligibility
Applicants must be working artists (18+) with a portfolio or body of work who are paid for their performances, sell their art, or receive compensation for their creative work. They must have dedicated time to creating art and regularly share their work publicly through performances, exhibitions, publications, etc. Artists may have formal or informal training and must participate actively in the artistic community.

Dance, fashion, film, literature, music, theater, visual arts, and interdisciplinary disciplines.
Residency Requirement
Applicants must be Franklin County residents for at least 1 year before application, OR accept to remain Franklin County residents for 1 year after the award date. As of 2026, bordering county residents are no longer eligible.
Who Cannot Apply
Event producers, music producers, film producers, teachers who do not create their own work, undergraduate students, influencers or YouTube/TikTok/Instagram creators, culinary artists, models and stylists, body artists (makeup, nails, hair, tattoos), sound engineers, strictly commercial photographers/videographers, club DJs, religious leaders creating only for congregations, and artists creating solely with AI.

Application Process
Review guidelines carefully, attend grant workshops, and submit questions to GCAC Grants and Community Engagement staff BEFORE submitting your application. Ensure all required elements are included and provide sufficient detail in responses and artist portfolio for approval. Incomplete or ineligible applications will not be permitted to resubmit due to limited funding.
