Overview
Espace Utrillo offers an 11-month individual studio residency (25m² workspace) from September 14, 2026 to August 20, 2027. The resident artist will conduct contemporary artistic research and must be present at least 122 days over the residency period (approximately 2.5 days per week). The studio provides full use of the workspace, internet access, kitchen facilities, and shared equipment; residential housing is not available in the studio.
Resident obligations
The artist must align with the structure's project and be an active participant. The artist's project must connect meaningfully with the territory. The artist will organize a final exhibition from June 5-25, 2027 presenting research results, conduct mediated visits for school groups and adults, teach two children's workshops during Easter break (April 5-9, 2027), teach one adult workshop on Saturday June 13, participate in the city's arts education program with two CM1 classes (three 2-hour sessions each), propose three 1-hour public mediations around the final exhibition, and may participate in jury selection, scenography, and setup.
Compensation
The award includes 25m² creation studio space, €25 per hour for public workshops (approximately 18 hours), €50 per hour for educational activities and mediation (approximately 15 hours), and a €500 production grant paid in the first quarter. Payments are made by invoice.
Selection criteria
Candidates will be evaluated by a jury designated by the City of Saint-Denis based on artistic quality and coherence of portfolio; relevance of the project to the territory and public; and commitment, motivation, and understanding of residency expectations including regular presence and community engagement.
