Position Overview
Full-time senior management position in Portland, OR. This is an employment opportunity for a Studio Manager at Marie Watt Studio, not an open call for artists to submit work.
Key Details
- Full-time, salaried (exempt) position
- 8am-4pm Monday-Friday, on-site with occasional work-from-home flexibility
- Occasional evening and weekend hours and business travel may be required
- Salary: $55,000 – $75,000 DOE annually
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as senior manager and direct supervisor for 3-4 production leads and rotating part-time skilled fabricators
- Oversee production deadlines, timelines, team workloads, and project assignments
- Take ownership of externally-facing projects, including external fabrication and public art projects
- Prepare project plans with clear objectives, timelines, and tasks for internal team and external partners
- Work with Artist to set strategic goals and plan projects years into the future
- Liaise with galleries, curators, cultural institutions, press, clients, and the public
- Assist with copyediting artist statements, reviewing articles, compiling portfolios, and writing grant applications
- Oversee PR and Social Media Coordinator
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years experience in an administrative or management role
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and delegate efficiently
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to take thorough notes
- Strong writer with proven research and editing skills
- Valid driver's license preferred
Preferred Qualifications
An arts/art history background, interest in contemporary art, and/or demonstrated experience or interest in working with Indigenous communities is encouraged.

Physical Requirements
The position requires frequent sitting while operating computer or office equipment; repetitive use of hands; reaching with hands and arms; stooping and kneeling; talking and hearing; lifting, pushing, and/or pulling up to 35 pounds.
