The ACES Wilderness Residency at Toklat is designed to advance and share the work of individual artists working at the intersection of environmental challenges and artistic expression, offering unencumbered time to think, work, and create in an inspirational setting. The four-week residency is situated at 9,500 feet in the historic Castle Creek Valley at the Catto Center at Toklat, 12 miles upstream of Aspen, Colorado, nestled amidst thousands of acres of National Forest and Wilderness.

  • Housing: Private cabin/apartment on campus (ADA compliant)
  • One artist in residence at a time
  • No meals provided; residents prepare their own food
  • Open to artists at any stage of career
  • Spouses, partners, guests, and pets are not permitted to stay with the resident
  • Dedicate the majority of time to their project
  • Provide and prepare their own food
  • Provide their own transportation to and from Toklat for the duration of the stay

Residents are encouraged to donate a work of art, participate in public programming and open studio with fellow residents, give artist talks or presentations, lead workshops for the public or fellow residents, and lead skill shares.
