GCAC is offering a grant to assist with legal expenses related to an artist's art practice and art business. GCAC has also established a Lawyer Referral Service with attorneys who guarantee to provide grantees a flat fee of $300 per eligible legal service. Grant amounts for 2026 will be lower than last year due to conservative funding approach.

  • Strictly club or mobile DJs hired for private or public events
  • Religious/worship leaders creating work solely for one congregation
  • Artists creating work solely using artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Business entity creation (LLC formation, registration with Ohio Secretary of State, EIN application)
  • Contract review (sales agreements, exhibition contracts, consignment agreements, work-for-hire, independent contractor agreements, grant agreements, joint project agreements, NDAs, artist representation, commission agreements, licensing agreements)
  • Lease review (personal residential and professional/commercial leases)
  • Trademark renewal and general intellectual property guidance

Eligibility
Working artists age 18+ in dance, fashion, film, literary, music, theater, visual, and multidisciplinary arts; Franklin County resident for at least one year; not degree-seeking undergraduate students; cannot be influencers, content creators, culinary artists, models, stylists, body artists, producers, engineers, strictly commercial photographers/videographers, club/mobile DJs, religious leaders, or AI-only artists.
