LUX Center for the Arts seeks volunteers to connect with art and artists. Community volunteers support exhibitions, education, and other programs. Fill out the LUX Volunteer Interest Form to apply.

Volunteer Benefits

Ongoing volunteers receive a 20% discount on classes and 15% discount on artwork in the shop.

Volunteer Opportunities

• General Education Program Support: Prepare art materials and classroom spaces. Organize materials, prepare classrooms, clean after classes, organize curriculum. Regular recurring hours most helpful, typically 10am–5pm Monday–Friday.
• Gallery Shop Support: Welcome patrons, answer questions, maintain shop area, process sales, package artworks. Background check required. Galleries open 10am–5pm Monday–Saturday; Friday and Saturday help most useful.
• First Friday Open Gallery Support: Help with setup/take-down, replenish snacks, serve drinks, interact with patrons. Events run 5pm–8pm on the First Friday (second Fridays in January and July).
• LUX On Campus Event Support: Assist with setup/take-down and art-making activities at free public events (typically January and early fall, plus April Auction).
• Event Table Support: Help run art-making activity tables at community festivals and partner organization events. Tables typically run 1–3 hours. Volunteers must arrange their own transportation.
• Facility Maintenance and Upkeep: Basic repair and grounds upkeeping (raking leaves, cleaning property, washing windows, light repairs). Flexible schedule, Monday–Saturday 10am–5pm.
