Rebecca Rivas Rogers' solo exhibition Attention to Detail features a series of new paintings of objects found inside the artist's studio. The luminous oil on panel paintings, each measuring no more than 8 by 10 inches apiece, are conducive to intimate looking, inviting viewers to get up close in order to notice the minute shifts in color, light, and texture within each composition.
About the Work
The works that comprise Attention to Detail hover between the genres of abstraction and still life. Made on a 1:1 scale, Rivas Rogers' still lifes focus on objects including duct tape, painted cardboard boxes, mesh, cast plaster, and other materials. Translating these workaday objects into sophisticated formal meditations, the works in Attention to Detail are an extension of the artist's ability to extract visually interesting moments from mundane environments, allowing viewers to revel in the simple joy of looking.
