Position Overview
Charlotte Street is seeking a Development Manager to join the organization by September 2026. This is a full-time, exempt position (40 hours per week) responsible for fundraising planning and implementation, including individual and corporate fundraising, special events, donor research, and stewardship.

Charlotte Street centers Kansas City's contemporary visual artists, writers, and performers. Since 1997, the organization has distributed over $3 million in awards and grants to artists and innovative projects, and hosts exhibitions, performances, and convenings.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and execute annual Development Plan and Calendar with Co-Executive Directors
- Manage fundraising correspondence, phone follow-ups, donation acknowledgements, and solicitations
- Research prospects for new funding
- Cultivate individual and corporate donors through meetings, phone, and email
- Develop strategy and manage stewardship of all funders
- Develop and manage annual Gala and special fundraising campaigns
- Recruit and retain Gala honorary chairs and committee members
- Represent Charlotte Street at external events and partner meetings
- Research, plan, and execute major donor and campaign asks
- Monitor and evaluate all fundraising initiatives
- Track and report income and Development expenses for budgeting
- Assist with grant writing as needed
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of professional fundraising or nonprofit development experience
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong project management abilities
- Experience with donor databases preferred
- Self-motivated, organized, clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Passion for the arts and Kansas City's contemporary artist community
- No specific educational requirements
Compensation & Benefits
Starting pay is $60,000/year. Full-time position includes health insurance, flex scheduling, paid vacation, sick time, and holidays.
Working Conditions
Open office environment at a 20,000 sq ft facility. This position requires some evening and weekend work with flexible hours. Charlotte Street uses Apple computers and Microsoft Office 365.
