Artists propose residency projects utilizing vA!'s equipped studios for sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, and related visual arts practices.
Venue
vA! is located at the top of Hong Kong Park in Cassel Block, a Grade I historic building originally constructed in the first decade of the 20th century as an extension of the British Army's Victoria Barracks. A new wing with a glass canopy was added when the building was converted into vA!, which opened in 1992.
Studio Facilities
- Ceramic Studios: 160 m² total, equipped with electric potter's wheels and electric kilns
- Sculpture Studios: 228 m² total (three studios) with drilling machines, bench saws, electric arcs, and argon welders for metal, wood, and stone work
- Printmaking Studios: 309 m² total (three studios) with screen printing machines, hot plates, dust boxes, and presses for intaglio, relief, planographic, and serigraph prints
- Multipurpose Studios: 104 m² and 82 m² (two studios), with the latter also equipped for relief printmaking
