Image: TBA21 | Maru Serrano The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza and TBA21 have launched an open call for their Nocturnal Walkthroughs program, which will accompany the exhibition CAUTÍN by Seba Calfuqueo, curated by Marina Avia Estrada. The show, running from October 6, 2026 to January 17, 2027 in Madrid, centers on the Cautín river as an intelligent territory of rocks, guardian spirits, plants, animals, and human beings, and on the political and epistemic violence suffered by Mapuche communities in the Wallmapu. Now in its third edition, the Nocturnal Walkthroughs program transforms the exhibition space into a site of encounter and collective reflection through performative visits, sound interventions, lectures, and readings. For the first time, the call also opens a workshop format to be held in the Sala Mirador of the Thyssen museum. The program is free and open to the public. The open call is addressed to artists, performers, writers, researchers, activists, scientists, and cultural practitioners based in Spain, across any discipline. For the performative walkthrough format, three proposals will be selected; each presenter will offer their activity on two nights with two sessions per night (at 21:00 and 22:00), approximately 45 minutes each, for an audience of 30–40 people. Dates span from October 24, 2026 to January 16, 2027. For the workshop format, one proposal will be selected, to be presented twice in the Sala Mirador for up to 25 participants, approximately one hour each. Compensation is €1,500 for the performative walkthrough — covering fees, travel, accommodation, and materials — and €1,000 for the workshop. Proposals will be evaluated in two phases: first by the TBA21 team, then by a committee including curator Marina Avia Estrada. Selection criteria include creativity, technical viability, potential for audience participation, alignment with the themes of CAUTÍN, and attention to accessibility. Applications must be submitted via an online form by May 31, 2026 at midnight.
