How it works
Faculty leading groups work with the college to develop customized academic programs and cultural itineraries based on the group's aims, subject areas, proposed dates, group size, and facility requirements. The college coordinates all details from airport arrival to departure.
Housing & Daily Logistics
- Each group is allocated its own housing in comfortable houses throughout Ballyvaughan
- Students housed in twin occupancy, self-catering basis
- Faculty lodged in private rooms in shared faculty house, self-catering basis
- All houses have fully equipped kitchens and laundry facilities
- Daily transport from housing to campus provided free of charge each morning and afternoon
Studio & Campus Facilities
- Individual studio spaces with 24/7 access
- Scheduled access available to other college facilities upon request
- Wireless internet access throughout campus and in most college housing
- Computers available on campus; students encouraged to bring their own laptops
- Access to 16th century Newtown Castle for talks, presentations, performance work, installations and exhibitions
Academic & Cultural Programming
- Complimentary guided coach tour of the Burren provided for every group
- Optional tutorials available from Burren College of Art faculty
- Fieldtrips available to explore the landscape, including Poulnabrone portal tomb, Aillwee cave system, Kilfenora high crosses and cathedral, Corcomroe Abbey
- Easy access to Coole Park, Thoor Ballylee, Doolin, Fanore, Cliffs of Moher, Galway city, and overnight trips to Aran Islands, Dublin, Cork, or Belfast
- Opportunities to engage with local artists and environmental experts
