Anschliessend schloss sie eine 4-jährige Ausbildung zur Polydesignerin 3D ab. Im Banff Centre for the Arts wurde sie in der Bühnenmalerei ausgebildet. Für Becker Audio Visuals gestaltete sie eine thematische Aussenwelt. In ihrer Serie "Gesichtspunkte" komponiert Carla Hohmeister ein vielschichtiges Porträt aus hunderten gefärbten Fichtenholzquadern, deren dynamische Anordnung ein faszinierendes Wechselspiel zwischen Abstraktion und Figuration, Licht und Schatten, erzeugt. Aus der Nähe offenbart sich ein rhythmisches Mosaik aus Farbe, Form und Maserung – aus der Distanz fügt sich das Fragmentierte zu einem ausdrucksstarken Gesicht zusammen. Die natürliche Struktur des Holzes bleibt spürbar und verleiht dem Werk eine organische Tiefe, während die geometrische Strenge der Komposition fast digital anmutet. Hohmeister verbindet handwerkliche Exaktheit mit einer subtilen, fast malerischen Sensibilität – ein Werk, das zur kontemplativen Betrachtung einlädt und immer neue Gesichtspunkte offenbart.
