School Bus for the Arts Grants - Nebraska Arts Council

Overview

This program provides grants for students from kindergarten to 12th grade to underwrite the cost of field trips to attend professional arts events, including concerts, dance or theatre performances, and cultural exhibits at museums or other venues. Field trips may also include learning opportunities such as theatre workshops led by professional artists.

Eligibility

Nebraska-accredited public or private schools or nonprofit organizations that serve pre-K-12 students. Nonprofit and non-school sponsors may apply for trips for students served directly by the organization. School districts have the option to include multiple schools within a single application through the Central Office Application process.

Kimmel Southeast Nebraska Program

• Counties eligible: Otoe, Nemaha, Richardson, Pawnee, Gage, Johnson, Eastern and Southern Cass, and Eastern and Southern Lancaster

Grant Amounts

• 1-100 students: maximum $400 per school year
• 101-200 students: maximum $600 per school year
• 201-400 students: maximum $800 per school year
• More than 401 students: maximum $1,000 per school year

Application Deadline

• General program: applications due at least 6 weeks prior to the field trip date
• Kimmel Southeast program: applications due at least 4 weeks prior to the field trip date
• Applications reviewed in order received; program closes when all funds awarded
• One or more applications per year permitted if maximum amount not exceeded within same school year
