Project title and description
Xenophones: Strange Sounds Project. This artistic research project considers questions of the 'voice'—the ways in which it is performed, recorded and made audible—as well as a wider understanding of the 'tongue' as relating to language, phonetics, accents and dialects. Underlying the work are notions of displacement and assimilation, understood here both in the sense of geographic migration as well as aesthetic form.
- Theme
- An artistic research project exploring the voice—its performance, recording, and audibility—alongside language, phonetics, accents, and dialects, with underlying concerns of displacement and assimilation in both geographic migration and aesthetic form.
