BJCEM is seeking two international curators (one from Slovenia, one from the Euro-Med area) to lead Mediterranea 20 – Young Artists Biennale BORDERLESS, part of GO 2025! European Capital of Culture. The curators will develop the biennale concept, prepare and manage the artist selection (approximately 100 artists), coordinate exhibition setup, and develop the event program and pre-biennale residencies.

Candidates must come from, live, or work in one of the listed countries (Albania, Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Lebanon, Libya, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, North Macedonia, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Republic of San Marino, Romania, Serbia, Syria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Swiss, Tunisia, Turkey, UK, Ukraine) and must demonstrate confirmed interest in cultural and contemporary artistic production in the Mediterranean and/or insular, remote, and small territories.

  • Selection results: weeks following deadline, announced on BJCEM website (bjcem.org)
  • Biennale opening: May 31, 2025
  • Biennale dates: May 30 – June 30, 2025
  • Portfolio documenting research practice, past and current projects, highlighting interest in Mediterranean cultural and artistic production (compressed PDF)
  • Motivational Letter proving specific interest in the project (maximum 2 pages)

  • Participation is free of charge
  • Gross fee: €5,000 per selected curator
  • Round trips to and from Nova Gorica/Gorizia covered July 2024 to May/June 2025
  • Accommodation guaranteed during missions in Nova Gorica/Gorizia

Applications will be evaluated by BJCEM in collaboration with GO! 2025 at their sole discretion. Only the two selected curators will be contacted by email. Any applications not complying with requirements will be automatically rejected.
