Service on one of SRAC's committees is a great way to put your skills and interests to work while supporting the arts. Our reputation as an arts council and advocate for the arts is due in large part to the enthusiastic and thoughtful efforts of the community members who have served in this capacity.
Ongoing Committees
- Budget and Finance: Oversees the organization's financial reporting, budget process and cash flow; responsible for overseeing and evaluating building operations. Meets at least once every thirty (30) days or as needed.
- Creamery 2.0: Jump-starting The Creamery expansion process with a completion goal of 5-7 years or by 2030.
- Executive: Provides oversight to all standing committees, focuses the board on key policy issues, acts as the board's agent during emergency issues, and conducts annual program valuation, annual review of the Springfield Regional Cultural Plan/Strategic Plan, and annual evaluation of executive director. Meets once every thirty (30) days or as needed.
- Government Affairs: Monitors and tracks legislative, regulatory, trade and public affairs issues. Meets once every thirty (30) days or as needed.
- Visual Arts: Develops the "$100 and Under Art Market," juries SRAC exhibitions, selects artists for the yearly "You Should Know" show, assists in creation of the yearly exhibition calendar, and promotes visual arts and artists in the region. Meets once every sixty (60) days or as needed.
Project-based Committees
- Grants: Oversees the granting process conducted by SRAC annually with funding allocated from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and Musgrave Foundation. Typically meets once a year.
- Nomination: Recruits new members and builds and maintains a board culture that is welcoming and supportive, uses members' talents and has clear standards and expectations. Meets as needed. Typically meets once a year.
Event-based Committees
- Artsfest: Oversees the annual fine arts festival on Historical Walnut Street the first weekend in May, featuring 120+ artists, local food, 60+ performances, live art and a children's activity area. Meets every other week from January through May.
- Ozzie Awards: Focuses on the fundraising gala, hosted at the Springfield-Branson National Airport, honoring individuals and organizations that have gone above and beyond in the arts community. Meets monthly.
