Overview
Liberty Station Public Art invites artists to participate in transforming the Arts District into an evolving open-air gallery. The Art in Public Places Committee (AiPP) selects artists through a request for qualifications process to create temporary installations that contribute to a dynamic, inclusive, and continually evolving cultural landscape.
Mission
Art in public space belongs to everyone. It creates access without barriers, sparks conversation across differences, and strengthens cultural connection. The mission of AiPP is to highlight the culture and diversity of the region while supporting artists through meaningful public engagement.
Installation Details
Established in 2017, the AiPP oversees the selection of temporary installations across the Arts District. Through a request for qualifications process, artists are commissioned to exhibit work for one-year installations. This rotating model ensures the campus remains active and responsive to new voices and ideas.

Visit the Open-Air Gallery
Explore public art throughout the Arts District by taking a tour. Look for the teal and white circular signs near each artwork and scan the QR code to access the digital tour. Visitors can learn about the artists, explore the inspiration behind each piece, and gain insight into the creative process through behind-the-scenes imagery and artist audio. The digital experience is available in both English and Spanish.
